For most of the last decade, I’ve been the main organiser of the Glasgow venue of the Global Game Jam. I love GGJ and it’s one of the highlights of my year. Bringing together local game devs, students, hobbiests and the occassional jazz musician (hi Sorana!) reminds me why I love to make things.
In my time running our jam, I’ve grown our attendee numbers from about 30 to about 250 at our peak. I like to keep the game jam special and try to arrange for special guest mentors, surprise mini-tournaments, and for the last few years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with the good folks at We Throw Switches to facilitate a Game Jam Arcade so that tired devs can take breaks and have some downtime during the jam.
